Me thinks... Yingluck made a terrible mistake by saying that - TopicsExpress

Me thinks... Yingluck made a terrible mistake by saying that she was willing to negotiate. She DOESNT have to negotiate. She, and her government, were elected in free and fair elections. She hasnt done anything that might be construed as gross violation of human rights (a la Assad, Mubarak et. al) that warrants extra-ballotic measures to end her reign. Whatever she did (or didnt do), she should be punished for it in the next elections. Might the Democrats be acting in such a haste because they dont believe they can compete? They should man-up. This is just a solo mission (rogue even) orchestrated by Suthep. The Democratic camp isnt united on this issue. Khun Korn has said before that he supported the protests to the extent that they opposed the Amnesty Bill. Not to think for him, I believe Abhisit is of the same view too... Yingluck should stand her ground. It should be business as usual. She should be going around officiating in domestic functions, promoting Thailand abroad etc. The International Community knows that she hasnt done anything wrong. The protests are a pre-emptive measure to prevent Thaksin from coming back, or whatever. Its akin to a referee giving a player a red card, or awarding a penalty before a fault occurred, just because our omniscient referee could see it coming. What she shouldnt do however, is to play into the hands of the Democrats (why they refer to themselves as Democrats baffles me) and start using force. Doing so will only diminish any modicum of support, however implicit, from the International Community. No force, but stand ground is my message to Her Excellency, Democratically Elected Prime Minister of Thailand, Yingluck.
