Meadow Update: Yesterday It seems like its been a while since updating on meadow, she is doing well though and it is still slow progress, small baby steps but seems to be working. Not yesterday but the day before meadow was moved bed space as out of nowhere cicu seems to have become soo busy, although we are not complaining its nice to get a change of scenery meadow is now in her own room which gives us much more privacy. On Tuesday the doctors started to wean her heart medication and put her on the one that she is to go home on, in the past they have had a constant struggle to bring down the heart medication but it seems she is now able to tolerate the wean and the increase of the new med. Meadow has been having her usual cpapp breaks and been doing so well with them she now even starts to cry when she is to go back on cpapp but they dont want to push her to much. Yesterday she was weighed and woohoo we are still getting weight gain going from 3.31 to 3.37 and tomorrow she will be weighed again so fingers crossed. Everyone is really pleased with meadows progress and said she is doing good, whilst asleep meadows respiratory rate is the same on and off of cpapp but when she is off of it and awake she seems to breathe alot faster, we was told though that it is because of the problem she has with her lungs when she went in to multi-organ failure but hopefully in time and when she grows this should settle a bit. Meadow is still on a constant feed of 15mls over the hour, I asked a doctor about when they will do her swallow test as a few people have mentioned her having a bottle the doctor said they could possibly try and arrange that although if she was to have a bottle it will tier her out more and cause her to struggle with the breathing which will put more pressure on the heart, so it seems that meadow will probably never be bottle fed which is going to be strange it already seems like we have missed out with the baby stuff as 3 months have gone past and to now be told that, before we no it she will be toilet trained. Today me and her daddy got to bath her for the first time and im not actually sure who was more excited us or the nurses, we got told that on there hand over of all the patients the highlight of the day was meadow had a bath lol made us laugh especially when two head nurses at different times came to visit meadow just to see how she was. Anyways meadow loved her little bath, we washed her and gave her a hairwash, we then took her out put her baby lotion on gave her a nice clean baby grow and she didnt cry once she loved it we managed to do all of that without her turning blue and all whilst she was on a 3 hour break instead of 2 hours which she deserved for having such a good blood gas. It still seems we have a while to go but she is doing absolutely amazing and is still heading in the right direction. Meadow you make mummy and daddy so proud and although this has been a long tough journey its been worth it just to have you in our life, we love you so much our special little star ☆ xxx
