Pua Case shares: As they waited outside the campground I was sitting at the lighting of the Old Fire to start the ceremony. I was startled that my name was called out by the chief and she said, there is a group at the gate waiting to ask permission to enter into the campground, they have requested you to answer them. And then I knew it must be my young men, our young men that I had led up the mountain, Mauna Kea to gather sacred water and what a beautiful permission chant they received from us, kanaka calling them in joined by our Maori brother and sister and the Wintu lead dance captain. What a moment! What a great time to be alive in the honoring of each other! me ke aloha, pua.ire and Water Ceremony....
