Meanwhile, back in Blacksburg, I braved Virginia Tech football - TopicsExpress

Meanwhile, back in Blacksburg, I braved Virginia Tech football traffic this morning to get to Tonetes Taekwondo School for promotional testing. Im not eligible (or ready!) to test for a new belt yet, but I was honored to participate as a supervisor of a sparring ring, and as an opponent for one of the kids testing during his third round. Everyone looked well-prepared and ready for the challenge. Some left disappointed, some relieved, and some anxious/uncertain... but as someone who has no-changed (the word is NOT failed) on more than one occasion, I can testify that the pain of disappointment is PART of it. Those who have always found it easy and have never struggled or fallen short of their goals are missing an important component of the physical and mental stretch that a martial art can and should be. Thanks for letting me be a part of it, Mr Frederico Versiani Araujo Tonete. (With Jenny Lanzara, Zach Harrell, Jasmine Dadras, Casey Knott, Cathy Turnbull Nichols, Caetlyn Nichols, and other people who are not for some mysterious reason my Facebook friends.
