Measuring vital signs (VS) and knowing what your horses normal - TopicsExpress

Measuring vital signs (VS) and knowing what your horses normal temperature, heart rate, respiration rate and gum color is at rest and after exercise or in extreme temperatures - even after trailering...means that you can quickly assess if something is off when you get a feeling your horse is not feeling a hundred percent. Checking VS and recording them is the first thing our Barn Manager, Chantelle Matthews does when a horse comes in for training and she routinely check all our horses starting with a daily gum color check. This is her very How-To Post and we are happy to share it as it is an important one. We think of it as: HorseKeeping for Wellness™.
