Mecca Takes Over the Myer Windows Global Beauty Icons This month Mecca Cosmetica, wanted to share a little of their world with you, big cities, global beauty, the latest collections. Inspired by the theme, ‘Global Beauty Icons’, they partnered with the creative minds at Create&Communicate 2C to create a 3D Gallery, on display at the Myer Windows in Melbourne and Sydney. lets go behind the scenes in an exclusive interview with designers, Paul Bonnici & Claude Marcos, on the design process and finished product – a celebration of the world’s most iconic, cult and luxury beauty brands The design: Global Beauty Icons Share with us the inspiration behind the story? We wanted the typography to hero in the design, drawing inspiration from contemporary magazines and fashion journals, we set out to develop a story around some of Mecca’s favourite beauty brands from some of the world’s most iconic cities. Is there a key design thread used throughout the design? Each windows hero is a restrained black and white portrait of the founder and creator of their respective brands. Surrounding these portraits, we offer a morsel of context around the product they represent. Products that have changed the face of the cosmetic industry around the world. How were you able to bring to life each window design? My intention was for each of these windows to be viewed has if flipping through the pages of a high-end fashion journal, flipping from one page to the next reading and engaging with key pieces of information, all presented within restrained contemporary design. These windows offer a bold and engaging story – I encourage you visit them take a moment with each one, be inspired and learn about the wonderful and exciting cosmetics that are bought, everyday around the world, by millions of people.
