Media Alert NAIROBI, June 22 – Deputy President William Ruto will be the Chief Guest at St. John Annual Inspection parade at the KICC today. The annual event celebrates humanitarian services of aid workers around the country who put their lives on the line to serve communities in need. The theme of this year’s Parade is “Strengthening Capacity for Disaster Preparedness” and is intended to encourage Kenyans to take steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, schools, organizations, businesses, and communities. In its efforts to empower capacity of communities to prepare for emergencies and disasters, St John Ambulance has put in place several initiatives to promote emergency preparedness. One such initiative include Highway Rescue Centers, manned by trained community volunteers, have been installed at 18 black spot areas along the highway linking Mombasa and Malaba to offer emergency medical care to accident victims. The Deputy President is expected to arrive at the venue at 10.00 a.m. and will be received by the St John Ambulance Chairman Retired Major Marsden Madoka and Health Principal Secretary Fred Sigor.
