Media Development Specialist The State Accountability and Voice Initiative (SAVI) is a DFID funded programme, designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of public resource use in selected states in Nigeria. SAVI is an action-learning programme that promotes dynamic partnerships among key agents of change and it will increase the ability of citizens to claim rights and hold state governments accountable. The SAVI Programme will focus on the following core areas: Supporting partners to progress the implementation of their advocacy projects Support to independent monitoring, research and policy analysis Strengthening the functions of Media and State Houses of Assembly to hold State Government to account to Citizens Media Development Specialist Location: Lagos, Kaduna Job Title: Media Development Specialist (x2) GRM Job Reference: IP-05348-PRJ Region: Africa Country: Nigeria Location: Kaduna, Lagos Date Posted: 5/30/2013 Closing Date: 6/14/2013 Location/s: Kaduna (x1) and Lagos (x1) Technical member of team, working together with the team in all aspects of programme development (planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, communications, etc) related to ‘Media-relations’ and ‘Media development’. Direct support to select Media Houses, to improve quality of coverage on governance-related issues. To improve Voice & Accountability (V&A) from a variety of angles (relational, technical, institutional and legal), within the time-frame, budget and capacity of each state team’s programme. Facilitation of joint working relations with ENABLE and other DFID/donor funded programmes at state level on ‘Media development’. Technical support to the state team on M&E of Media. Technical support to the federal team on direct dealings with the Media and on strengthening ‘Media relations’ and supporting ‘Media development’ in line with the strategic objectives of the federal team’s programme. Liaison with Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), National Union of Journalists (NUJ), National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Correspondents Chapel (CC), etc. Candidates must be able to provide experience of the following essential criteria. Minimum of 5 years experience in Media Development Minimum of 3 years work experience with State and / or National Media organsiations Degree in Communications Media development or other relevant educational background Experience working to improve Voice & Accountability, including relational, technical, institutional and legal with an International Donor Organisation or Int.
