Media Release 30 June 2014 Applications for NSW Dance Fellowships now open Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead is calling on dancers and choreographers in the Manning and Great Lakes to apply for the NSW Government’s $30,000 Dance Fellowship. The NSW Dance Fellowship is designed to assist established choreographers and dance practitioners to take the next step in their professional careers. “I encourage established and mid-career choreographers and dancers from across the electorate to consider applying for this fellowship,” Mr Bromhead said. “Every year at festivals and performances people in the region get to see firsthand the wealth of exceptional talent that resides here. “Now is a fantastic opportunity for our dancers and choreographers to be recognised and for them to further their careers by applying for a grant. “I would be delighted to see someone in this community be successful in this field. “The fellowship will support a program of development that may include travel within Australia or overseas, a mentorship or internship, residences, or the creation of a new work.” Arts Minister Troy Grant said the NSW Dance Fellowship would assist a professional dance practitioner or choreographer to undertake a self-directed program of professional development. “This fellowship is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to supporting the ongoing development and careers of NSW dance artists. “The NSW Dance Fellowship will support the next generation of performing arts professionals and I look forward to announcing the recipient and seeing their work later this year,” Mr Grant said. The NSW Dance Fellowship is offered by Arts NSW. It will be assessed by an independent peer panel and the winner is expected to be announced later this year. Arts NSW defines an established or mid-career dance practitioner or choreographer as an individual that has had eight or more years of professional practice. Applications close on 14 July and for more information and to apply for the Fellowship, visit arts.nsw.gov.au
