Media group cites Hataman for government service MANILA – Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Governor Mujiv S. Hataman was honored by the Excellence in Public Service Award from the Bulong Pulungan at the Sofitel today, 5 December 2014. Hataman received his award from no less than President Benigno Aquino III, who was guest of honor and also an awardee during a lavish celebration led by Philippine women journalists of Bulong Pulungan. Gov. Hataman is the first local public official to have received the distinction in the 28 years of Bulong Pulungans existence. This award is a fitting cap to the governors very successful and emotional State of the Region Address (SORA) earlier this week, when the numerous achievements of his service in the ARMM was brought to the fore, and where he thanked the various local officials and department heads who all worked towards their goals. President Aquino lauded Bulong Pulungan during his speech at the event, saying that Interacting with you always highlights the fact that you are women and men who enjoy respected status in our media; you are journalists who have paid their dues to propel the standards of your profession. You are widely quoted as influencers in our society, and you are free to say what you think with a sure audience ready to listen. As you have earned the respect of our people, you have no other motivation than to do what is right, to voice your informed and honest opinions, to stimulate relevant and productive discussions, and to set a standard in news-making that caters not to the mob but to the truth. Bulong Pulungan is a forum organized in 1986 by a group of women journalists aimed at sharing and updating media members with a variety of issues, concerns and topics of national interest. The media forum core group is led by Deedee Siytangco, press secretary of former President Corazon Aquino, Manila Bulletin columnist Julie Yap Daza and Philippine Star columnist Domini Torrevillas among others.
