Media-men beaten by CRPF,forced to pelt stones on protestors=>CentralReserve Police Force (CRPF) personnelallegedly roughed up several media menwhen they were covering the incidents ofstone-pelting at different places in HajinSonawari belt in North Kashmir’sBandipora town.Ding-dong battles between GovernmentForces and youth were reported from Hajinarea. Reports said that agitated youthresorted to heavy stone-pelting on CRPF andPolice personnel.Eyewitnesses told CNS that CRPF personnelfrom 45 Battalion caught hold of severalmedia men and without any provocationroughed them up. “We were covering theclashes when CRPF chased and thrashed us.Some of the media-men were asked to pickup stones lying on the road and pelt themon the protestors who were throwing stoneson the other end of the road near mainHajin Bridge,” Hind Samachar reporter MirAftab told CNS adding that CRPF personnelhit him with gun buts injuring his neck.Reports said that at least three lens menworking for different media houses sufferedinjuries. “My camera was smashed intopieces and even my mike was damaged by‘unbridled CRPF personnel,” another mediaman Sofi Ayaz told CNS.“CRPF personnel acted like goons and abusedand thrashed us. They deleted all thephotographs from our camera and forced usto pelt stones on the protestors,” anotherlens man Inayat Ahemd said.When contacted CRPF spokesperson KishorPrasad told CNS that CRPF did not beatanyone but only advised those lens men tocover the incident from a safe distance. Hesaid that if it is proved that, “our menthrashed lens-men then appropriate actionwill be taken against the guilty.” (CNS)
