“Medical Child Abuse,” is now used to remove inconvenient parents from the role of advocating for their children. That is what happened to Michelle Rider when she took her 17 year old son in for treatment. Isaiah was taken from his Mom while he was in ICU at Lurie Childrens Hospital. He was experiencing excruciating pain due to tumors on his nerves and from a partial leg amputation. When his Mom wanted to transfer him to another hospital that had been successful in the past with this issue, she was reported to DCF and he was taken from her while he was in this condition. Once he left the hospital, he was put in foster care instead of returning to his Mom in his home state of Missouri. He is now back in his own state but not with his Mom. He is with his grandparents which is a great thing, but it is not home and it is not his mom. Michelle, his mom, needs help since she has a 9 hour ride to Chicago to go to court to clear her name. Yes, this is happening in Illinois! It is happening in America. Parents, please take note especially if you have a child with any kind of medical condition. Chicago is home of the National Foundation for Neurofibromatosis, where research subjects are highly prized. Isaiah has Type 1 Neurofibromatosis.
