Medical Stuff Update: For those following the ongoing medical and medical bill saga weve been going through, theres finally something to update. First, let me extend another thank you from both of us to the community who has been so generous in helping us in this tough financial time. To date, the community has managed to donate about $1500 to help with this avalanche of medical bills. At this point, we think we have finally gotten the last of the bills from the ER visit and very few remain in the form of follow-ups before the new insurance weve gotten for my wife kicks in on January 1. *If* she ends up needing minor surgery for the ongoing issue from that ER visit situation, it would be after January 1, so it would be when she has insurance, which is a big step in the right direction. At the moment, were a couple of months away from being able to finish paying off one medical bill (from a previous thing, not the recent ER stuff) that she has been paying on for a while. I actually think we may be in a position to knock out the last couple of payments at once to get it out of the way sooner, but well have to see how the next little bit goes. We got an offer yesterday for one of the ER visit bills that was about $1,500 to settle for about $740, as long as it is done by tomorrow. We took it, so that bill is knocked out for a little less than half of its balance, which is quite helpful. As for the big bill, the $12,000 one, we believe that it will hit the 90 days after the last bill was sent out stage in January, which is when it would be turned over to one of the hospitals collection partners (possibly even the same place those earlier bills were transferred over to). After that happens, we expect that at some point well be given a settlement offer, or at the very least a payment plan that isnt ridiculous like the two previously suggested by the hospital ($1,000 per month being the cheapest they had to offer I believe, which was totally impossible). We are hoping to basically just keep saving what we can before then so that we have a decent amount ready when/if that happens. My guess is that well still end up needing to take out a small loan, either via my bank or possibly through one of my wifes close friends (who is already helping his family through a tough time, so thats still up in the air). Health-wise, Im pretty much better from having been sick recently (not needing a doctor visit or anything) and my wife is awaiting a checkup next week for her fractured toes (a different situation, this one from her job and thus paid for by the business, not us) and another in December for the ER visit issues. Broadly speaking, assuming our sporadic high cost car issues are finally over, we arent entirely out of the woods by any means, but it looks like we are starting to see some daylight. Again, you have our thanks. If you feel the urge to help and have not yet had the opportunity, the email address to use through Paypal for donating is nathan@starwarsfanworks. MTFBWY, NPB
