Medical Update of Rosalia Apaza Pillco: by Dr. Joseph Currier June 25, 2013 Rosalia had a good day yesterday. 1. She went to the Operating Room for a second time and had a washout of her wounds and a new Wound Vac placed on her scalp. The wounds are healing nicely. The best news is that the Vac is doing a great job at bringing the scalp a little closer to minimize the size of the flap. She will continue on a 2-3x per week schedule to have wounds cleaned and Wound Vac replaced for a couple of weeks before the reconstruction will likely begin. 2. Ophthalmology looked at her right eye and there are no concerns. 3. It was noted that she was not moving her left arm much. Radiographs were done and are negative. She is slow to get moving, likely because she was immobilized for so long. 4. Nasogastric Tube remains in place with feeds continuing. 5. Her spirits remain good and that beautiful personality is shining through more every day. 6. Psychiatry and Social Services met with Agustin yesterday to help with any emotional issues regarding the attack. 7. Next OR washout scheduled for tomorrow June 26. It is possible that the repair of the left ear will begin at that time.
