Medical massage is an umbrella term that should include all modalities that affects the medical outcomes of our clients. That should includes modalities like orthopedic massage, NMT, Myoskeletal Alignment, Posturology, visceral massage, cranial sacral therapy, clinical sports massage, etc. OT is sometimes a buzz word used by massage therapists even though they do no have adequate skills in orthopedic assessment and clinical reasoning. I think what I teach in Orthopedic Massage is definately a critical foundation of doing medical massage. But to respect my colleagues I do not use the global buzz word of medical massage.
