Medications for Animals (revised SPHS Farm Rules and Feeders Contract): 5) Medications, other than routine well animal treatments (ie wormers, treatments for mites / lice), will not be provided by the school. Both over the counter and medications prescribed by a veterinarian are the responsibility of the animal owner. Prescription medications shall not be shared between students or animals. Prescription medication will only be given to the animal for which it was prescribed. Any student/parent caught using an illegal substance or a prescription medication on an animal for which it was not prescribed will forfeit their right to use the facility and will have to remove their animal project(s) from the facility. All medication, both prescription and over the counter, used on animals must be reported to the Ag teacher before use and logged into the medication log located at the facility. The log must include the name of the medication, the dosage, the time and date, what animal was treated, and who administered the medication. Violation of this protocol will be a violation of the RRISD Student Code of Conduct. 6) The Stony Point FFA Booster Club may provide over the counter medications to its members. The medications may only be given under the advisement of the Ag Science teachers or a veterinarian. Medication for animals may only be given under one or more of the following conditions; a) by an ag science teacher from Stony Point High School, b) by a licensed veterinarian, c) by owner or owner’s designee as prescribed or directed by a veterinarian. ANY medication given to an animal in the program must be reported to one of the Ag Science teachers prior to treatment and logged into the medication log that will be kept with the medications. The log must include the name of the medication, the dosage, the time and date, what animal was treated, and who administered the medication.
