Meditation from 2 Samuel 11, the famous story of David, Bathsheba and Uriah 1. It wasnt Davids cunningness that was wrong it was his desire for another mans wife that was sinful. We are permitted to see our benefits and make decisions on earth only as long as the benefit itself or means we take to attain them dont clash with Gods rules. 2. Joab is not charged with Davids sin. David sinned but Joab executed it. Joab followed the orders of his king. The sin is not to be shared by Joab and David because in truth it was David who is responsible for this wickedness. Joab did not question David or reason with him he was not charged for the sin itself. Joabs intentions were not mere obedience but his position as a commander. This intention led him to sin for which he was eventually punished (1 Kings 2:5; 1 Kings 2:28 - 29) The good rule is never ever use sin as a means to keep or get some benefit. May Gods name be glorified!
