Meditation is something all humans do, whether we mean to, or not. Its actually not necessarily spiritual (though everything is spiritual, if we approach it that way) It comes from a word that means to become familiar. To become intimately familiar with anything, one must simply, non-judgmentally, and consistently observe. Observing ones mind and its patterns is a very useful practice that prepares us to be able to work with and tame the mind. This is the wonderful teacher Khandro Rinpoche, with whom I took refuge (the vows one takes to become Buddhist) years ago. She is so clear, and conveys both the simplicity, and also the profound implications, of meditation. I recommend this, and her, highly. May all find peace!
