Meet DAVID J Artist Bio David J is a new comer to performing southern soul music, a genre that is primarily dominated by slightly older artists. This young man has an old school sound and he is taking the southern soul world by storm. David M. Hale Jr. was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, a place known for producing great southern soul music. David remembers developing a love for music at the age of 7, when he received his first drum set. He was involved in music all through school. Like many artists, David sang in the church choir. When he was 16 he mustered up the courage to sing a solo at his church, Little Welcome Missionary Baptist Church of Mobile. It was then that David realized he wanted to take music to the next level. Many musicians influenced David’s love for music, Johnny Taylor, Mel Waiters, Frank Mendenhall, T.K. Soul, Frankie Beverly & Maze, and Freddie Jackson, to name a few. In 2011 David had the great honor of singing in front of thousands of people at the opening ceremony of an annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative event. David is an enthusiastic, hard working talent, who is patient with his success and persistent with his growth. David J’s positive music and message is something to take notice of. His favorite quote is, “Chase Your Dreams,” and that is exactly what Mr. David J is doing!
