Meet Franklin! Franklin is a Quaker Parrot that came to us after his owner had to go into a nursing home. No one in the family wanted to take in an ugly, naked parrot, so they brought him to us. We have never seen such self-traumatization like this. He is very nervous and not used to being pet, but once we held him he fluffed up his head and clearly enjoyed the first human contact he has had in a long time. We are working with Dr. Dahlhausen on his treatment. While he has damaged his skin to the point that most feathers will not come back, we can at least get his scabs healed and on a great diet. Hes enjoying his new full-spectrum lighting, too! We will be bringing you updates on Franklin monthly in our newsletters, so keep checking back!
