Meet Pop the incredibly brave and sweet natured little pig who was rescued by a caring young woman who then contacted us for help. Pop was born the runt of the litter on a small farm and because of the stress and the fact that he did not receive special care his immune system could not cope and he became weak and unwell. This meant that mites which are naturally occurring in small numbers on humans, dogs and pigs took over his little body and made him terribly sick causing chronic skin and health problems. Pop was surrendered to Brightside last night and we are working hard to save him and make him a healthy happy little pig. Pop is the saddest sight, and the sickest little pig you could imagine.With all the terrible things I have seen the sight of Pop almost bought me to tears. He is gentle and sweet natured even though he is in terrible pain from his condition that has been untreated. He is now being treated for mange and we hope we can nurse him to health. Today he visited one of our wonderful vets Dr James Harris at Mayfair Veterinary Clinic in Hobart. He behaved so impeccably better than most dogs and sat patiently on both the waiting room bench and the consult room table. Pop has a long and happy life at Brightside Farm Sanctuary to look forward to once we shake that illness and make him well.
