Meet Prof. Wole Soyinka’s Wife & 4 Of His Children Ilemakin Soyinka, Moremi Soyinka-Onijala, Olaokun Soyinka, Prof. Peyibomi Soyinka-Airewele, Wole Soyinka Children, Wole Soyinka Wife. Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka once said he has an “over-healthy relationship with women”. He is obsessive about privacy, “I hate talking about my personal life. There’s so much of one’s life one lives publicly; when I get home, it’s what I have left.” He’s never known to have more than one wife at a time. His second was a 10-year marriage to Laide Idowu, which ended in the 1960s. In 1989, he married Folake Doherty-Soyinka. As for his children, Soyinka says, “In our tradition we don’t count our children. In my case the gods have been kind – maybe over-generous.” He is father to: · Olaokun Soyinka, a UK-trained medical doctor, he is the current Ogun State Commissioner for Health. He is married to the award-winning writer, Lola Shoneyin · Moremi Soyinka-Onijala, Member, Governing Council of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She’s a former Special Assistant to the President on Youth, Migration and Humanitarian Services. She is married to Ambassador Olutola Onijala · Prof. Peyibomi Soyinka-Airewele – Professor of African and International Politics with interests in the fields of socio-political memory, the politics of disaster, critical development theory, human rights and the politics of African Cinema · Ilemakin Soyinka – Media/Theatre consultant. He has worked extensively in the field of documentary through his company Barollo Production, a film TV, Radio and Arts Producing and Promotion Company. The highly-respected Prof. Wole Soyinka clocks 80 this Sunday, 13th July 2014.
