Meet filmmaker Joe DeFrancesco as he discusses his documentary John Browns Body - At San Quentin Prison, Jan. 17 in Santa Rosa. The film follows the preparation for an inmate production of the play John Browns Body at San Quentin State Prison. Putting on the play about the Civil War gave the inmates an opportunity not just to express themselves creatively, but also to hone skills such as teamwork and dedication. By the end of the program i had an understanding of how to work with people I wouldnt normally work with, an appreciation of literature, the arts, one inmate shared.
