Meet our new friend 7455, but friends like me just call him Seven. - TopicsExpress

Meet our new friend 7455, but friends like me just call him Seven. This is the boy I took from the pound today and took to the vet. He is severely emaciated, has lived with an over tightened collar (which has left his neck with permanent damage), and severe skin issues, which I felt could be mange. I checked him out and took him to the doctor who did skin scrapes and determined it is not mange, rather very bad allergies. She said his neck will never change as this is scar tissue in the area. His teeth are fine and he likely will gain weight as he eats more each day. She gave him an allergy shot and a prescription of antibiotics. I brought him home with me for the night to give him a nice warm bath with some special shampoo. He will spend the night with us and if we cant get a rescue commitment by morning he will have to go back to the pound to complete his treatments. I do not have a kennel area for large dogs at my house, so keeping one like Seven is not much of an option for us. IF I could get a commitment form a rescue to take him within a two week period, I could make temporary arrangements for him. We usually do not pull animals from the pound without either a rescue commitment of a good idea that we will get one soon. If we operated like that, we would end up with all of these animals at our own homes. I do feel so bad for this guy, as he is so sweet and kind. For now Seven has been bathed, and is in my craft room along with the puppies. The puppies went back to the doctor today for their follow-up visit and received another shot for their mange issues. The doctor says they can play in their area outside now as long as we do not allow the others to play and sleep with them. She doesnt feel they are contagious at this stage, but we are still going to keep them away from others for a while longer just to be on the safe side. Sharing the same room is acceptable, as long as there are no direct contacts made. Hoping you all are having a great day and making memories as you go along. Remember to always Pay it Forward
