Meet the team of correctional officers and K-9s at California Institution for Men, tasked with keeping the prison free of contraband. These CDCR K-9s are specially trained to alert to the presence of cellphones. Our K-9s have found cellphones hidden in books, beds and even inside a jar of peanut butter! Cellphone use by inmates poses a security threat, as it allows inmates to circumvent the monitoring process and potentially engage in further criminal behavior, which can endanger CDCR staff, other inmates, witnesses and victims and their families.
