[ Meeting updates with IIUM Development ] Bismillah.. Ramadhan Mubarak.. Last Thursday, (11th July 2013), SRC dan IIUM Development had a meeting. There are some updates to be shared. Before that, I apologise for this belated updates. 1) Ali’s Road As I have mentioned before, Ali’s road now is in the phase of preparing BQ (Book of Quotation) and the road fixing process is expected to begin in this short sem. However, after discussing further with the Director of Development, Dato’ Ir Shaffei, the fixing process may start a bit later; during the vacation before the upcoming sem. This is because the assigned contractor is the same person in charge of the current repairing process of the marching field for the use of the upcoming MASUM. Right after that, Ali’s road will be tended to. As SRC, we demanded that the road fixing process should be done during short sem (Ali’s road first, then the marching field) since the pending status has been quite long enough. Dato’ needs some time to discuss this as both fixing processes; Ali’s road and the marching field are of the same level of priority. Dato’ promised to contact SRC as soon as possible. Millions of thanks to Dato Ir Shaffei for his willingness to listen to the suggestions from SRC and openness in discussing with SRC. This is an exemplary attitude shown by the Director who welcomes any opinion from students. 2) Furniture In the previous updates, it was informed Development was in the phase of replacing the furniture at Kulliyyah of Aikol dan Econs. Alhamdulillah the phase is now completed at kulliyyah of Aikol ,while it is near completion for kulliyyah of Econs. The next kulliyyah will be kulliyyah of IRKHS. Besides that, Development also bought 50 exam tables to replace the old ones at CAC. Due to budget constraint, Development is doing the replacing process phase by phase. 3) Facilities at Kulliyyah In the upcoming long sem, there will be some disabled students admitting to Kullliyyah of ICT. In the last meeting, SRC has requested to add more facilities for these students. According to the officer in charge, the facilities will be worked on during this short sem. The current facilities at each Kulliyyah will also be observed. If reparing process is needed, SRC will bring this issue forward to Development. It is very necessary for all to realize the importance of caring for the disabled students in IIUM. They have the same rights as us. Therefore, if there is any problem with regard to them, do direct it to SRC. 4) Potholes A few reports had been made previously. Alhamdulillah the potholes at the junction heading to mahallah Aminah dan Asma have already been fixed. Dato’ has also informed that the junction heading to turut Kulliyyah of Edu has also been fixed. 5) Holed drain and gate Regarding the inadequately closed drain that may cause harm to students and staff, SRC asks for the students to identify the location of this drain. This is to ease us to report this to Development. The same goes to the holed gate. We ask for those who know the location to PM us immediately. It is even better if you can provide the photo of it as well. 6) Road Bumps We received complaints regarding road bumps at the back of Kulliyyah of ICT which are reported to be too high. According to Dato’ Ir Shaffei, the bumps are in their standard size. Anyhow, Development will look into this issue. p/s: This time, SRC’s main focus is to ensure that Ali’s road will still be fixed before the next tenure of new SRC’s line-up. The issue of Ali’s road has persisted for years. As SRC, we are committed to ensure that the fixing process of Ali’s road will still be carried out. All will be eased with Allah’s will.
