Meg has been released back to the wild! I wouldnt normally release - TopicsExpress

Meg has been released back to the wild! I wouldnt normally release at this time of year but it is milder at the moment and Meg has been in an outdoor run for some time and is thriving and over 850g. In fact, he has put far more weight on since he has been outdoors and he has enough reserves in case he doesnt hibernate for a while. He is going to a supported garden where a hibernation house and food and water will be provided. I have found that boys in particular get very stressed in captivity when they are kept longer than necessary and so we have made the most of the milder weather this week. It also means a new space for one of my outdoor hedgehogs to move on to the foster carer who was looking after Meg. Good luck out there Meg! :-)
