Mega Blood Donation camp organized by Dr. O P Bhalla Foundation to pay homage to Dr. O P Bhalla, Founder Visionary, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions... To pay homage to the legendary Dr. O. P Bhalla, Founder Visionary, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI) on his first death anniversary, a mega blood donation camp was organized today at the Manav Rachna International University (MRIU) Campus under the aegis of Dr. O P Bhalla Foundation. Dr. O P Bhalla always believed in giving back to the society. A great philanthropist and an educationist, he is often credited for putting the State of Haryana on the global map and changing the face of education in the country. ‘Dr. O P Bhalla Foundation’ has been set up to carry forward the philanthropic vision and rich legacy of Dr. O.P. Bhalla. The Dr. O P Bhalla Foundation envisages bringing about change in the society through incremental, articulated steps. It aims to undertake developmental activities, research and training in various fields, such as education, sustainable development and environmental protection, gender equality, health and well-being. The Ek Muthi Daan (rice or cereals) campaign to feed the poor and Adoption of Village Mohana for educational and CSR activities have received widespread support from the community. On September 16, the entire Manav Rachna family paid tribute to Dr. O P Bhalla- a great social reformer via the noble cause of blood donation. The Blood Donation Camp organized under the aegis of Dr. O P Bhalla Foundation by the Lions Club of Faridabad & Rotary Club in association with Manav Rachna Leo Club collected around 1200 units of blood. Medical support and equipment was provided by an able team of doctors from B K Hospital, Faridabad and Santon Ka Gurudwara along with Rotary International. To support the Haryana Government’s endeavor, an amount of Rs. 5 lac was donated to Red Cross Society for the victims of Kashmir Floods by Dr O P Bhalla Foundation. Apart from this, the employees of Manav Rachna have also donated one day’s salary under the aegis of Dr. O P Bhalla Foundation to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the victims of Kashmir Floods. Dr. Suprabha Dahiya, IAS (Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Faridabad) inaugurated the camp along with Mrs. Satya Bhalla, Chairperson, Dr O P Bhalla Foundation; Dr. Prashant Bhalla, Chancellor, MRIU; Dr. Amit Bhalla, VP, MREI, Dr. M.M. Kathuria, Dr. N. C. Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor MRIU and other senior dignitaries. Through its sustained efforts, the Dr. O P Bhalla Foundation has already initiated work to strengthen education systems, responding to global challenges through transformative education. Perspective of Dr. O P Bhalla Foundation: 1) No one sleeps hungry - the Foundation is donating more than 2000 kg of rice to three NGOs that are running shelters for street children, destitute women, elderly and sick people. 2) No one is left behind in development and quality - the Foundation has adopted the Mohna village and is undertaking regular weekly development activities in the school and the village like teaching, training of teachers, health camps, awareness and cleanliness drives, etc. 3) No one remains without higher education - the Foundation is also working towards targeting 100% Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) for higher education in the Faridabad District. Towards this, student scholarships, school awareness programs and related activities are being launched with particular focus on government schools, rural areas and economically backward students to facilitate and encourage their endeavors and aspirations for higher education.
