Megan Terlecky, News Channel 3 Anchor & Reporter, POSTED: 02:15 PM PDT Oct 11, 2014 LOCAL - 3.2 quake hits near Desert Hot Springs DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif. - The US Geological Survey reports a magnitude 3.2 earthquake struck about 10 miles northwest of Desert Hot Springs at 2:02pm. People reported feeling the small quake on the USGSs website from Palm Springs and Palm Desert. The USGS reports the tremor occurred on the San Andreas Fault. The fault line runs through the Coachella Valley, and was responsible for the 7.9 San Francisco earthquake in 1906. The 2003 Working Group for California Earthquake Probability assigned a 21% probability that the San Andreas Fault would produce a magnitude 6.7 or larger earthquake in the next 30 years. So far no reports of any damage or any aftershocks. This quake followed a magnitude 2.9 quake reported about 14 miles ESE of Anza at 11:53 am on Saturday, according to the USGS. kesq/news/32-quake-hits-near-desert-hot-springs/29069604
