Mehbooba to attend President’s banquet for Obama Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President, Mehbooba Mufti is attending President Pranab Mukherjee’s banquet for the visiting US President,Barack Obama on Sunday.Sources said Mehbooba, the Memberof Parliament from south Kashmir’s Anantnag-Pulwama parliamentary constituency, received the invite to attend the event, and would fly to New Delhi on Sunday morning.The PDP President is among 200 influential people on the guest list forthe banquet hosted by President Mukherjee to welcome the US President.Mehbooba’s PDP won all three parliamentary seats from Kashmir inthe 2014 parliamentary polls in which the incumbent Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power.Her party also emerged as the single largest party in Jammu and Kashmirwinning 28 seats and is on the verge of forming a coalition government with the rightwing Bharatiya Janta Party.Sources in Rashtrapati Bhavan said the banquet to be held on Sunday after Obama lands in India would include top political leaders, Padma Shri awardees, corporate honchos, legal luminaries, big names from the medical fraternity, academicians andsome prominent citizens.According to a tentative schedule, which is subject to change, the US President is likely to reach New Delhi at 4:45 am on Sunday and arrive at Rashtrapati Bhavan at 10:10 am.Later in the evening, the US President would attend the banquet at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
