Melanoma Foundation of New England Team Early member Kathy Early reports that last Fall she was able to volunteer for the Marathon Daffodils project (see link) This was a project designed to bring the color of Hope along the course for both the runners and spectators alike in the wake of last year’s events. Literally Hundreds of thousands of bulbs were planted in pre-determined locations along the route, and at the firehouses, and Hospitals of first responders, and where the victims were taken for treatment. She reports that the area that she planted, along mile 8.5 in Natick on the course in front of Roche Bros. and the Station Five Grill, has some tiny green sprouts popping up from the ground as of this morning, as well as in front of the Natick Fire Station at mile 10’ish. She is hopeful that some of us may catch a glimpse of green tomorrow as we run by, not only that location, but all along the 26.2 mile course, and then get to see them in full Bloom on April 21st, as a tribute to the team, and the MFNE, for the Hope and support that we are bringing to patients and families affected by Melanoma! THANK YOU, Kathy! I cannot wait to see these daffodils!
