Melissa died the morning of 25 August. She had a seizure a week - TopicsExpress

Melissa died the morning of 25 August. She had a seizure a week ago. It was over in a couple of minutes, then she seemed fine again. We were still wondering what was wrong with her, something with the brain, or a secondary symptom of something else? She had lost a bit of weight the past year but her blood test results were normal. Then it happened again. This time she could not be saved. Though I knew something was coming, I didnt expect it to be so soon. She was as normal as could be the previous day. Melissa was 11 years old. She was 4 years old when she was abandoned together with his brother Gabriel in 2007. They were known as Gor Gor and Mui Mui then. They had been passed from one family to another 3 times. They got more stressed after each move because they could not adapt to a multi cat environment. By the time they came to me they were completely out of their mind. Gabriel was aggressive and irritable. Melissa had licked herself bald. It was full house at both my places so they went into foster again and again a multi cat home. It was a dilemma. If I did not take them, they would be euthanized as their last family could not stand the bald look of Melissa and wanted to end her suffering. Gabriel contracted cat flu and lost one eye due to it. After a few months I managed to vacate my kitten room at home and let them move in. Finally they were alone. From then on they started to recover. It was a long road. It had taken more than 2 years for all the hair of Melissa to grow back. They improved gradually and after a couple more years they are just like normal. One thing remains unchanged. They hate cats. Whenever a cat sneaks into their room they go into fighting mode. The room is their territory, no trespassing! As they age, they have mellowed. I put a pair of tiny kittens into their room in 2009. They grudgingly accepted them. Now Gabriel and the boy Marvin are best friends. Melissa remained a loner. I felt so sorry that I could not find a good family for them. They had to go to very experienced and patient people, and usually these people will already have a few cats. Then I noticed that Melissa was very possessive of my husband, to the point that whenever I went into his room, Melissa went right away to sit on his lap. Hmmm.. They were meant to stay, I guess. I dont know if Gabriel is sad. He is quiet. He sleeps all day. I hope he is alright. He still has Marvin who adores him. Melissa didnt have a friend. Since Gabriel becomes close with Marvin, the brother and sister had gone separate ways. Melissa was always alone. It was a rough life for her and I was not able to change that. It hurts to think of that.
