Melting point of Steel, 1,492 °C. If your jet plane engine did not melt while it burnt kerosene (fuel), you think after the plane crashed into the building, the fuel and other normal office furniture burning can cause the temperature to raise so much, the steel to melt and drip like the picture below. Black smoke means incomplete combustion, means burnt at even lower temperature. Stupid.
