Member Question: I am 26 weeks pregnant with my second child. I am due in April. My daughter is 4 1/2 years old, and recently when having a conversation with my mom and husband about my mother being in the room with us, she asked my daughter if she wanted to see her baby brother be born. Personally, I would love for my daughter to see him be born but I think she is too young for that experience, not only do I think she wouldnt understand but I feel like it would be unsafe to have her in the room while doctors are doing what they need to do, and also I am worried if there was a problem how she would handle it. I expressed this to my mother but she thinks its a wonderful idea for my daughter to experience this and continues to talk to her about it and mention it to her. Does anyone else feel like I do? Or am I just over reacting and being a worry-wort.
