Member question: I have an 11 week old EBF baby who is really difficult to feed. He refuses to go in the craddle/cross craddle & football holds. He starts screaming and kicking his legs furiously until I take him out of it. For the past 6 weeks I have had to feed him in the side lying position and even then he starts crying sometimes when I try to feed him so it can take a while to coax him on. I know that he is hungry, but it is as if there is something that is stopping him from latching on (I know he can do it, as he was an awesome feeder up until about 5 weeks). The only time he will go on without a fight is when he has just woken up or if I let him get to the point of crying because he is absolutely starving. He did have tongue tie, but was treated at 5 days old. LC said it was normal developmental behaviour (but for 5 weeks ongoing?!). He throws up a lot, about 10 times a day some days. The doctor said it could possibly be acid reflux but he is generally a happy baby up until feeding time. I do not eat dairy, soy, caffeine or gluten. I will keep going with breastfeeding, as he is still gaining weight okay and has enough wet nappies, but it is really making breastfeeding an anxious and tiring experience for me and I am constantly bound to my bed.
