Members of HMBS Nassau and HMBS Bahamas during routine patrol visited New Bight, Cat Island with the purpose of Contributing back to the local community via crew members’ time, treasure, and talents. Forging deepened relations with the Island Administrator, Local Government Officials, and other Law Enforcement Agencies. Creating awareness amongst the school populous on the Royal Bahamas Defence Force as a career choice in the future. Specifically, crew members of HMBS Nassau which comprised of a co-joined membership from both ships participated in restoring and building benches and tables that are used by the students of the Old Bight Secondary School for messing and recreation purposes. These items were presented to the schools’ Principal Mr. Forbes who expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the ships’ company and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force generally. Undertook the repairs and replacement of faulty electrical sockets in the classrooms. Made a presentation on the Historical accounts of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, its post and current leadership, as well as a summary of the force complement and assets. Liaised with Mr. McIntosh, the Island Administrator and other government officials. Furthermore, members made an assessment of future endeavors to make an even greater contribution to the Island of Cat Island.
