Members of Parliament are courting another round of battle with the Kenya Media industry. An MP seeks to gag the media against scrutinizing parliament and MPs through a Bill that has fairly draconian provisions, including another fine of Sh 500,000 on journalists. This appears to be another version of the KICA Act (2013) which journalists demonstrated against and which is the subject of a court case since January. KCA warns that any attempt to intimidate or muzzle the media through legal sanctions will be resisted by journalists and the entire media fraternity and will ocassion a backlash on Parliament and the MPs on a scale they have never known before.
