Members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics on Tuesday agreed to suspend their strike action. The lecturers have been on strike for about three months. At a meeting of its National Executive Committee on Tuesday, the lecturers agreed to suspend the strike and return to work immediately. The decision is coming on the heels of the meeting of the lecturers with the top hierarchy of the National Assembly; the Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyat Rufai; and the Minister of Labour, Chief Emeka Wogu. Government made offers to the lecturers, which the leadership said it was going to consider at the NEC level. The National Publicity Secretary of ASUP, Clement Chiamen, confirmed the development.
