Members of the Facebook group have attacked Cisse for objecting to the club’s new shirt sponsorship deal with internet loan company Wonga. Cisse is refusing to wear a shirt with the Wonga logo on the basis Muslims are prevented from benefitting from the lending of money under Shira Law. Newcastle are privately bemused by Cisse’s stance given he was happy to wear the logo of Virgin Money last season, a bank that also makes money from loans, as well as mortgages and overdraft charges. However, as with all racist abuse of their players, Newcastle have been disgusted by the Facebook Group and have reported the abuse to Northumbria Police who are trying to identify the people responsible. "We have been made aware of abusive comments made on Facebook,” said Northumbria Chief Supt Dianne Winship. “Northumbria Police take all reports of abuse very seriously and enquiries are being conducted."/jamie
