Members of the Heriot Watt Scientific Dive Team will be heading over to Sicily on Saturday to present the results of their scientific research projects at the 16th International Bryozoology Conference in Catania. Jen Loxton will be explaining results from her PhD studies on mineralogy of Scottish bryozoans and the non native species Schizoporella japonica. Sally Rouse will be discussing productivity of Flustra foliacea colonies on artificial reef structures. Dr Joanne Porter will be presenting data about the biodiversity of deep water Bryozoa recently found on the seamounts to the north west of Scotland, including the George Bligh Bank, Rosemary Bank and Rockall, in a collaboration with Mary Spencer Jones (NHM) and Jim Drewery (Marine Scotland Science).
