Members of the Philadelphia City Planning Commission, as part of the Philadelphia 2035 Implementation Project, yesterday briefed members of the Bridesburg and Port Richmond communities about the planning for brownfields in the Lower Frankford Creek Watershed. A brownfield is a property where its expansion, redevelopment, or reuse can be complicated by the presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant. This plan is designed to identify community priorities related to brownfields clean-up and redevelopment; evaluation of market conditions, market potential, and needed infrastructure improvements; strategies for brownfields site clean-up and reuse; and plan implementation strategies. The link contains a map of our neighborhood and proposed “high priority” sites in which to develop a public/private partnership for this project. I will ensure that all local residents will be kept up to date on any proposed plans and future meetings.
