Members of the Tea Party and other far Right Wing splinter groups are calling for a complete halt to all immigration into the United States. They actually push, campaign and lobby for this strict policy of exclusion. I was just thinking…my GGGrandparents Simeon Fabry/Prosperine Engebose and Hubert Joseph Glime/Alexandrine Nenee emigrated to this country from Belgium in the 1870’s; my GGrandparents Athanase Paquette/Marie Roseanna Lorraine emigrated to this country from Canada in the 1880’s; my GGrandmother Jennie Green emigrated to this country from Ireland in the 1890’s; and my GGrandparents Gabriel Rogvald Ohmen/Vendla Sophia Isaksson emigrated to the country from Finland in the 1890’s. The only GGrandparent of mine who was not an immigrant or born of immigrant parents was my GGrandfather Wesley Simonson, who was Dutch/English “Yankee” from New York. Wow…no wonder I want to barf when I look at the Tea Party and the many un-American ideals that it stands for. As for me, I’ll back those who actually believe in and truly understand the American Dream. Heres to my immigrant ancestors who came to this nation and became a part of that Dream!!!!
