Members post Please can you post the following: A warning to all pet owners. Please dont rely on the fact that you pet has been microchipped when they go missing. My family and I have been searching for our beloved Casper since last weekend and thinking that because he was microchipped and we hadnt heard anything that he was still out there missing. It actually turns out that the council collected him on Sunday evening having been hit by a car and killed and they either didnt bother scanning him or their microchip reader was as they described it old and possibly faulty!!! I only found out where he was as a neighbour saw my missing Facebook post and contacted me. After 2hrs in total of phone calls yesterday I managed to track down where he was taken to and collected his body. They tried to Palm me off by saying that his chip must have fallen out or moved. Luckily I went to collect him with my vet and friend Beth Gerrish and we scanned him in the car and he WAS chipped and it WAS in the right place. Beth gave them a stern talking to (as I was in no fit state to do so). I am appalled and disgusted by Hounslow council and myself and vet will be making a formal complaint. RIP Casper, we all miss u terribly and are deverstated that your life was taken at such a young age. Also to app car drivers SLOW DOWN! V
