Memo to Rosemary Barton, CBC News. Rosemary, Steven Fletcher was not "blindsided" on Monday morning Cabinet Shuffle announcement. Do you not do any research? Was your CBC News article written in a hurry? A few days before your article, I read that Steven Fletcher knew well in advance that he was not returning to cabinet. On the day of the shuffle Steven Fletcher posted this on facebook: "In today’s significant Cabinet shuffle, Manitoba gains two new female Ministers. I look forward to working with Ministers Glover and Bergen to make Manitoba and Canada, a better place. The Prime Minister has stated that there needs to be more women in Cabinet and in politics. I agree. Gender distribution is an important part of any cabinet composition. “I will stand for re-election in 2015. I am thoroughly enjoying being a Member of Parliament. I look forward to continue to champion causes that are to the benefit the constituents that I am most fortunate to represent." Yes, he is running in 2015. No, he will not be criticizing the government or leaving it. Rosemary, further along in your article you state that "Harper also dropped two women from cabinet, Senator Marjory LeBreton and Diane Ablonczy. No Rosemary. Senator Marjory LeBreton is in her seventies. She will reach mandatory retirement age in 2015. She resigned in advance of the shuffle announcements. And, Rosemary, Diane Ablonczy, out of courtesy to the Prime Minister and his decision making, resigned in advance of his announcements. She was not intending to run in 2015 so she showcased her decision early. Your attempt at sensationalism, failed.
