During the same period, buying power has gone down 9 percent due to inflation We pay more for the worst company health insurance weve ever had. We lost retiree health and life insurance. We endured three unpaid weekly furloughs. Our pensions were frozen, in exchange for which the company contributes a measly $75 per month to our 401ks. New employees get no pension. Reporters and photogs now must pay most of the cost of the cell phones they make available for company use Before Lee Enterprises bought the Post-Dispatch, salaries were the fourth highest among all Guild contracts in the country Today, the Post-Dispatch isnt even the highest paid newspaper in St. Louis. It trails the St. Louis Catholic Review, which ranks No. 13 in a national salary survey. As for the Post-Dispatch, it ranks No. 36 in the salary survey, just ahead of TVOntario and the Moncton Times-Transcript.
