Memorabilia Post: If you lived in Baton Rouge in the 60s, 70s, etc. you will remember when businesses started moving out across from Exxon, miles of used car lots moved in. We bought a few older vehicles from these lots and got stuck with some lemons! When you drove off the lot with one of these vehicles, you had a 30 day warranty. If the engine or transmission when out (major car problems).......you were stuck with a vehicle that a lot more money had to be spent on. For us, lessons were learned the hard way. My husband was a mechanic when we first got married so he and I put a lot of rebuilt engines in these old vehicles. He pulled the motor out with a chain attached to our wooden post carport. It was a lot of hard work.....but at least we got more service from the car. How many of you had similar experiences from purchasing vehicles from the use car lots on Scenic Highway? (Seeing this photo from a retro FB page brought back many memories.....some not so good.)
