Memorable Moments of Coach Bolgeo Many yeas ago as freshman at Raleigh Egypt High, I recall one of my first Friday football games ever. It was 4th quarter and the upper class men had secured a large enough lead were the freshman could play. Coach Bolgeo made the call who substituted in. For whatever reason my name wasn’t called (talk about furious)..... As a hot headed freshman I recall storming up to the locker room, throwing my pads, helmet et cetera into the locker and saying I quit. Coach Bolgeo got wind of all this and took an approach we me and this situation that he probably did not have to take, especially in that environment. He basically said, “Hey, I apologize and don’t quit.” Coach Bolgeo also let me know (with no pressure) that there was practice the next morning and that I should be there. Needless to say I went to practice the next morning and that began Coach Bolgeos and my relationship throughout high school. Years later I became one of the starting wide receivers. That statement “don’t quit” probably has impacted me all this time more than I have realized. (This is just one story of the man ha, ha,...) Coach Bolgeo, Thank You for encouraging me not to quit!
