Memorial Day (A Year in Review) Memorial Day is a day to remember and to be thankful for the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives that we may be free. We remember, reflect, and respect their efforts. Today also begins my fourth year of ministry since our return. Blessings and accomplishments abounded. Summer 2013 included a survey of the Bible class for children, Palmetto Bible Camp, Young Professionals’ kayak trip, a tea hosted by Leaderettes (speaker: Jasmine Fitcher), and VBS. During fall 2013, we enjoyed co-ed fall ball and Coastal Carolina football games. Our men gathered for a Saturday “dream” session and have implemented several new ideas. The Senior Servants (50+) and Secret Sisters ministries were created. In Spring 2014, we were blessed with a Ladies’ Day (speaker: Olivia Archambault), Lads to Leaders activities, and 3 graduates. More members are getting involved. We enjoyed additions to our leadership and membership. After 3 of our precious elders resigned due to health issues, we chose 3 new ones, along with 7 more deacons. Many sick recovered due to prayers, including Sandy Harbert, Ivanella Prillamon, Ron Woodfin, the Howells, and Highsmiths. We mourned the loss of Frank Seaboldt and Karen Carey. We were blessed with 2 weddings, 6 new babies, a remodeled nursery, 7 placing membership, 10 restorations, and 5 baptisms. Our goal this year is “Each one, bring one to Christ.” A major dream was accomplished in the “land to expand” purchase of our adjacent property. Our goal is to pay off the loan through weekly contributions, 2 special contributions, and gifts from extended church family. Our future dream is to build an additional facility for expansion, a preaching school, and a Christian school. Evangelism and spiritual growth were emphasized. The ladies developed an SOS (Seekers of Souls) class. Our “Men of God” class attended a preaching retreat and 11 have presented sermons in a Sunday PM series. To God be the glory! Steven K. Guy
