Memories of Navaratri from my formative years inspire me to keep traditions alive for my kids! First the stories my mom fed me about her memories always brought a smile to my face! My favourite tradition is the one of Golu! A beautiful display of toys, idols, decorations...all on a set of steps that lead up to the altar of the mother Goddess! And the daily prep of sweets and offerings..the aroma of the agarbatti and the Lalithasahasranamam being recited in the background! I recreated those same moments after marriage in whichever home I resided in...Finding lil thingmajigs, toys and heirlooms to give life to my Golu! This yr my 3 yr old helped me with the toys on behalf of his big brother who looks fwd to seeing his fave characters merge with this Indian festival! This year we added Angry Birds, Chota Bheem, Minions and Tenkai Knights to our regular Golu favourites!
