Memory 17 of 20... Happy Birthday LeiLani Gail Decker, 04/04/2011, Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH, Dr. Montenaro (Again!). What I needed at the time. Just 1-2 months after we get out of the Army, surprise, its a baby. But again, we tried. But, we never thought it would happen. Honestly, I was very suicidal at this time and Lei saved my life. On the day she was born, Sharon had a doctor appointment. I was working at Polartec and getting a BIG promotion. I was behind locked doors signing my new contract. Sharon called but nobody would interrupt us. Turns out, she was on her way to have another C-Section. Finally, someone told me what was going on. I said thanks for the promotion, now I need a few days off. I raced to the hospital. I even got pulled over. The cop did not believe me at first but then said, my wife works at that hospital. He told me to find her after the baby was born and let her know if everything was ok. I got the kids from school and headed to the hospital. Sharon, still feeling the love for Hawaii, had Over the Rainbow by Israel Iz Kaʻanoʻi Kamakawiwoʻole playing in the background. What a special moment that was. Our fourth and final child. The light for our family and joy when we are down. Shes different then the others. Like she was molded just for us, at that time. My wife endured the pain of childbirth four times. All healthy and all beautiful. Thank you Bear. For being a great mother, wife and friend!
